We drew the 2017 Plant Based Reset to a close last Sunday.
The Plant Based Reset is our live 5 week program that we run once a year.
We run it live because it’s an intense 5 weeks, so it’s important that the program is done as a group, with my guidance and support the entire way through.
We only run it once a year because the amount of time it takes us to prepare and guide people through it is monumental.
It’s a lot of work, but every time we run it I’m reminded just how awesome and life changing it is and that it’s totally worth putting in 12 hour days a couple of months out of the year for. Below is a perfect example of why I’m already looking forward to the Plant Based Reset circa 2018.
“Wow. I just got back from the doctor. I am crying my head off. I am now off ALL blood pressure medication and I have eaten myself out of being a diabetic!!! I’ve moved into the pre-diabetic range but he says if I add in more exercise and keep eating this way I will be a normal healthy person free of all medication!!!
I just can’t believe it. I’ve been struggling for so long with my health. That’s over!! Time to live!!! WOO HOO!! GO ME!! Molly Patrick… I owe you my life, girl. Thank you so much!!!”
Jo Estle Houseman // 2017 Plant Based Reset
There were over 200 people in the 2017 Plant Based Reset and I’m dedicating today’s Fuckery to them (and anyone else who’s working on eating their way healthy).
Dear 2017 Plant Based Resetters,
It has been my honor and joy guiding you and witnessing your progress and growth over these past 5 weeks. It’s amazing how close people get when we go through challenging shit together and reach the other side – even if we’ve never met in person.
I feel like you’re family and it has thrilled me to see all of the friendships that have blossomed during this process. Some of these friendships will be lifelong. What a gift!
You’ve been able to vent and laugh and share hard truths with each other. You’ve been able to grieve and let go and share wins. You’ve been able to talk about the smell and frequency of your farts. You’ve been able to be honest without fear of being judged. You’ve been supported and you have supported others.
There were times you were mad at me (fucking juice fast) and there were times that you wanted to throw your arms around me and kiss me (because NO MORE SHITTY FOOD CRAVINGS!).
There were times when you wanted to give up and the rest of the Resetters helped pull you through. There were times when your fellow Resetters wanted to give up and you rooted them on and helped them through.
During these past 5 weeks people have done things that they didn’t think were possible, and you have been there to share the ride.
Thank you for being part of this group. Thank you for doing your best. Thank you for being kind and supportive. And thank you for doing this for yourself.
I was there to guide you through this, but you my dear, have done 100% of the work. I tip my hat to you, and I bow. From my heart to yours, here’s what I wish for you going forward.
May you always feel deserving of the best fuel for your beautiful, perfect body.
May you never be afraid to share your sparkle and shine with the world. The world needs it more than you know.
May you always do your best and never even think about beating yourself up if you get off track. There is no such thing as perfection, my love, so there’s no use chasing it.
May you be free of unnecessary illness and disease and may you be happy, healthy and vibrant for the rest of your days.
May you be kind to yourself every single day and make you the biggest priority in your life. You are the most important relationship you will ever have and once you’re kicking ass, then you can help the people you love to kick ass too.
May you embrace the suck. Always. The suck is in your life for a reason, so look it dead on and welcome it with open arms and flirty eyes.
May you trust your body. It knows best. Your head will try to convince you otherwise, but be strong, remember your why and don’t believe everything you think.
May you embrace your perfect body exactly how it is right now. Not what it might be. Not what it could be. Not what it used to be. Not what the media or anyone else thinks it should be. Fuck that. Your body is perfect right now. So love it. Respect it. Cherish it. And repeat.
May you live your life exactly as you wish. You have the power. You get to decide.
May your joy and health continue to radiate through all of your ups and downs. All of your tears and laughter. All of your wins and frustrations. Life is beautiful. Life is hard. And eating like a plant based boss can be as consistent as your breath, helping you through all of it.
Thank you for making my life richer and for allowing me to share a small slice of your story. You deserve all of the health, happiness, joy, love and support that this world has to offer. Now give me a high five and go make yourself a green drink!
Okay – not going to lie – I cried a little when I wrote that.
I know that 2018 is far off, but if you know you want to join the 2018 Plant Based Reset, sign up here and we’ll holler when registration opens towards the end of the year.
Today’s recipe will inspire you to never order Hot and Sour Soup from any restaurant, ever again. Which is just as well because restaurant Hot and Sour soup is loaded with not so great ingredients, like sugar, eggs and chicken stock. Make this one instead. You won’t go back!
Plant Based Hot and Sour Soup
3 cups mushrooms, sliced (175g / any variety)
1 cup firm tofu, liquid pressed out and then cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup daikon radish, chopped (65g)
3 cups Chinese cabbage, sliced (60g)
1 tablespoon green onions, sliced (use the bottom white part)
1 carton low sodium, oil free vegetable broth (32oz / 1 liter)
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce (60ml)
3 tablespoons brown rice vinegar
1 teaspoon Coconut Aminos
2 garlic cloves, peeled and left whole
1 tablespoon peeled and roughly chopped ginger
1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
2 tablespoons garbanzo bean flour
- Make the broth by placing all of the broth ingredients into your blender and blending until totally smooth, without any chunks of garlic or ginger (vegetable broth, soy sauce, brown rice vinegar, Coconut Aminos, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, white pepper, garbanzo bean flour).
- Transfer the broth to a large pot and add the mushrooms, tofu, daikon, cabbage and green onions. Bring to a boil and then turn down the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Add salt to taste if needed.
Wishing you a happy week. May it be filled with eating yourself healthy and radiant.
P.S. – nothing like the sound of nature to recharge.
